European Union (EU) will
implement the RoHS directive before the effective date of July 1,
2006. The aim is to restrict the use of six hazardous substances (Cd /
Cr6+ /Hg/Pb/PBB/PBDE) within electrical and electronic equipment and
recycling of the waste (WEEE), in order to protect the human health
and the enviroment.
Traditional metal surface pretreatment process,
such as chemical
conversion coating or anodizing, usually use Cr6+or other heavy metal
ions to provide corrosion resistance.The regulation has been more and
more restricted for using chromate and other heavy metal ions
chemicals as well as using these metal surface pretreatment processes.
These traditional electrochemical routes of corrosion prevention for
